Publication of the lectures given at the Westermarck Conference
The Annual General Meeting of the Society will be held at Europe House, 32 Smith Square, London SW1 at 6.00pm. It will be followed by a talk to be given by the the Ambassador, H.E. Mr Pekka Huhtaniemi, on the subject of Finland in Europe followed by a Reception.

Mike Lawless takes as his title for his talk on Alvar Aalto a phrase which Aalto often used and which he feels encapsulates Aalto’s impact on the world of architecture. Lyödään hepnaadilla – Let us stun them with amazement!
We will have a presentation on British Landscapes by Dr Jenny Lunn of the Royal Geographical Society. She works on the Discovering Britain project which is a series of geographically-themed walks which the RGS has devised with the Institute of British Geographers.
Professor Neil Kent will introduce his new book which will be published in October. The book is the first comprehensive social and cultural history of the Sámi people of the Nordic countries and north-western Russia.
In his second anthology and survey of writing by British Travellers to Finland, No Particular Hurry, Tony Lurcock covers the period from 1830-1917. The talk will be at the Finnish Institute, 35-36 Eagle Street, London WC1 at 6.00 for 6.30pm.
Soile Pietikäinen is a researcher and sociologist with a particular interest in bilingualism. As her husband is Italian and they live here, their children are being brought up trilingual. The meeting will be held at the Finnish Institute, 35-36 Eagle Street, London WC1 at 6.00 for 6.30pm.
